LGBTQ+ Mental Health Group for Adults 18+ presented by Colors+ Counseling LLC

Virtual TBD

This group will allow LGBTQ+ adults who meet criteria for mood disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, and trauma related disorders to join together to relieve, reduce and better manage some of their shared symptoms. Stigma based stress, and societal alienation can lead to unique vulnerabilities which elevates risk for depression, anxiety, substance abuse and/or suicidality.  This group uses an LGBTQ Affirmative CBT model based on minority stress to manage and reduce symptoms. Examples of minority stress include stigma, interpersonal stress, romantic relationship stress, family and developmental stress, LGBTQ Community Stress, and Institutional Discrimination like workplace/healthcare, educational/religious discriminations.  The aim is to acknowledge the pain, stand up to stigma, build empowerment and community support.  This group is funded by the ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga County, and there is no fee to participate for residents of Cuyahoga County.  If you reside outside of Cuyahoga County, it is possible to join the group using your Health Insurance Plan.  Contact us for more information regarding your specific plan.
