Colors+ is Moving Forward!
We’re entering a new chapter at Colors+ Youth Center! As we shift to a more flexible, community-based model, this page explains what to expect, where to find us, and how you can continue to be part of our community.
Why Are We Leaving Our Space?
Nonprofit funding has decreased nationwide, creating significant financial challenges.
An increase in rent and the loss of designated operating funding made staying in our space unsustainable.
Moving away from a traditional brick-and-mortar location gives us greater flexibility to pilot new programs, reach more families, and respond to community needs.
This shift allows us to expand our reach beyond one location, including long-requested programming on Cleveland’s East Side.
Our former space was larger than what our youth truly needed. Young people consistently gravitate toward smaller, more intimate environments that encourage connection and belonging.
LGBTQIA+ youth seek safe spaces in many places—libraries, schools, churches, parks, cafés, and community spaces—and this model allows us to meet youth where they already are.
By reducing rent and utility costs, we can invest more in staffing, programs, outreach, fundraising, and community partnerships.
Where Will Colors+ Youth Center Be?
New mailing address:
1375 West Clifton Blvd, Lakewood, OH 44107
Programs such as Playtime+, Drag Storytime, Teen Game Night, Family Dinner & Game Night, Harmony+, and others will be held at Lakewood Congregational Church*.
Connections and Family Yoga will be held at the Fairview Park Branch Library, which is generously providing space and storage.
On Cleveland’s East Side, we are collaborating with Safe Pass and Lake Erie Ink, with additional partnerships in development.
Virtual D&D will continue uninterrupted, with plans to add an additional group.
New virtual programs are in development, including Trans Online and a potential group for queer youth with chronic illness and/or disabilities.
We remain available for speaking engagements and will continue participating in community events such as GSA Rainbowfest and Pride in the CLE.
Lakewood Congregational Church is an Open and Affirming congregation with a public covenant of welcome for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions. We’re proud to share space with other affirming organizations, including the Cleveland Pride Band, which practices at LCC.
What’s Staying the Same 💜
Our commitment to LGBTQIA+ youth remains at the center of everything we do
Programs are continuing — and expanding — not disappearing
Familiar staff, values, and community connections remain unchanged
Youth and families can expect the same care, safety, and affirmation they’ve always received
